LGBTQ Youth Cornwall - Lead Worker Role

Date: 9 Dec 2009

LGBTQ Youth Cornwall is looking for a fantastic lead worker to run and develop our youth group for young lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and questioning people aged between 16 and 25.  We need someone to work 10 hours per month, planning and delivering two sessions one of which must take place on the first Saturday evening of the month and the second of which needs to move around the county. We have a very committed team of trustees and an assistant worker in place, as well as an enthusiastic group of young people.  We are looking for someone with the skills, passion and drive to really develop the group. Because the provision is so new there will be lots of scope for the successful person to implement their own ideas and ways of working, in partnership with the assistant worker and trustees.  We will need the successful candidate to accompany the group on a trip to the School’s Out conference in London on February 6th. This will involve an overnight stay in London.  We have made a funding application which, if successful, would allow us to increase the hours already allocated to this post.  It is desirable that the successful applicant identifies as LGBT themselves, but it is far more important that the person we appoint has an inclusive and open attitude to young people and an excellent understanding of the very specific needs of LGBT young people.  Completed application forms must be returned to us by Monday 21st December, we will be interviewing early in the New Year.  If you would like an informal, and completely confidential, chat about this post please contact Kate using the details below.  We look forward to hearing from you.
