Cornwall LGBTQ+ Forum Celebrating IDAHOT Day
8th May 2017
International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) was created to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBT+ people internationally.
May 17th was chosen to observe IDAHOT Day as it was on the 17th of May 1993 that the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from its list of mental illnesses.
IDAHOT Day is celebrated in more than 130 countries, including 37 where same sex acts are illegal. It unites millions of people in support of the recognition of human rights for all, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.
