Falmouth Town Council wants to get local people and groups involved as deeply as possible in the creation of a Neighbourhood Plan for the town to guide future development.
The Neighbourhood Plan could include a wide range of issues, like where new homes, shops and workplaces should be built, how they should look, and where the money received from developers under the new community infrastructure levy should be spent. Without such a plan all of this would be decided at County Hall, and the important planning decisions made by Cornwall Council would be based only on the National Planning Policy Framework and the county-wide local plan, which means that important local factors could be ignored.
The Town Council wants the whole Falmouth community to get on board and decide the best way forward with planning the use of land and buildings in and around the town, so it's calling for input from the LGBTQ+ community in the area. This could simply be by sending in your views, or you could volunteer to become more actively involved in creating the Plan.
