Visitors have ‘Moor to Sea’ at this year’s Pride
14th July 2009
Three Westcountry Gay Pride organisations are coming together to hold two joint events for the first time next month. A four-mile walk and picnic will be held at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park, Torpoint, Cornwall, on Saturday, August 15.
It falls on the weekend mid-way between the annual Cornwall Pride festival, in Truro, on August 8, and Plymouth prideevent on August 22, and is part of a ‘Moor to Sea’ initiative designed to attract visitors to the westcountry region.
Plymouth prideevent, now in its fourth year, is the region’s largest lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and trans celebration and takes place mainly in and around Plymouth Guildhall. Cornwall Pride, in its second year, has three linked events taking place around Lemon Quay in Truro.
Because this year the Cornwall and Plymouth events fall close together, the organisers anticipate people from all over the country are likely to stay in the area to take in both Pride celebrations and enjoy the scenic moorland and coastline.
