New plans for sexual health clinic
PLANS have been submitted to Carrick District Council for the construction of a two-storey sexual health clinic at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
Hospital chiefs hope to build the 'sexual health hub' on the site of gardens near the new dental school which is currently under construction.
The clinic, which sees around 10,000 patients a year, used to be based at Truro City Hospital until around eight years ago when it was relocated in a temporary building at Treliske.
Designed as an outpatients' clinic where people can seek confidential advice and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases including HIV infection and AIDS, the new facility will also provide contraception services.
Local residents have until January 13 to comment on the proposals.
